The Hatzabe are one of the very few people left, that live as hunter-gatherers. They are only found around Lake Eyassi in
Northern Tanzania. Their language is maybe one of the oldest on earth and has click noises similar to
those of the San bushman in Southern-Africa. Their hunting is done with bow and arrow only. Some of the arrows are poisonous.
We went on a hunt with a small group one morning, they first shot a genet and later a baboon. The animals were eaten on the
spot half cooked, half raw after being thrown on a fire with fur and all. Some was taken back to the families. We were invited to join
the feast, but sadly we had lost our apetite. Nevertheless quite an experience.
