Tour of Africa with Toyota Landcruiser

 


Unlike most overlanders we split up our tour and travel in stages. In Africa we did two stages a year, each 6 to 8 weeks. At the end of stage 6 we reached Cape Town and after that we did 6 more tours in Southern Africa. Here is an overview of all the stages.

2005 - stage 0 Not really part of the big trip. Learning to drive the deep sands of the sahara with 9 other Landcruisers in Libya
2006a stage 1 From Holland to Nairobi crossing Sahara desert, Ethiopian highlands and along remote Lake Turkana
2006b stage 2 Short trip to Kenya mainly to see the migration of the wildebeest
2007a stage 3 Again Kenya to explore more of this beautiful country
2007b stage 4 Moving on through Tanzania, sidetrip Zambia ending in Malawi
2008a stage 5
Zambia again to see Luangwa, Vic Falls and Bangwuelu
2008b stage 6 Zambia once more to traverse both Luangwa Parks, crossing Malawi, Mozambique and S-A to reach Cape Town

stage 7 S-A Western Cape and Namibia southern half
2009b stage 8 Eastern part of S-A. Coast, Kruger and Karoo
2010a stage 9 S-A Western Cape and Namibia northern half
2010b / 2011a
stage 10 N-E part of S-A, Lesotho, Zimbabwe, Kruger & other parks, Mozambique, Swaziland
2012 stage 12 S-A Namibia, Botswana, Swaziland big tour Karoo, Kgalagadi, Namib, Etosha, Kruger, Drakensberg
2013 stage 13 Short tour of Western Cape and one week Cape Town Shipping the LandCruiser back home
